The second in a series of Smarter than Smoking, WATTA Junior Graded and Novice Tournaments was conducted at the Kingsway Indoor Stadium on Saturday 9th April 2011 and again was highly successful.
This event attracted 24 junior players from various suburbs with 11 different schools represented some players from Mosman Park, Tapping and Lower Chittering proving that yet again distance is no problem. A point noted at this competition was that the youngest player was 8 and half the players were under 11 which looks good for the future of the association.

The format for this tournament placed the players in 4 groups of 6 players, the winner and runner-up position advancing to 2 crossover groups of 4 and the winners of those groups playing for the tournament trophy
The winner of the tournament was Gavrilo Rakic (Greenwood S.H.S.) for the second time this year and the beaten finalist was Aidan Johnstone (Ashdale Secondary College). Both Gavrilo and Aidan are sure to be heading for greater achievements and will now probably concentrate on WATTA sanctioned tournaments and State representation.

The tournament was played in good spirit and there were encouraging signs from a number of players including Jordan Deegan, Matthew Loe and the smallest player Liam Barclay who, with his none spinning, dead bat caused a few problems for all that played him!
The next tournament in the series will be held on the 25th June 2011 the venue yet to be chosen.
